Beat the heat; walk indoors

PublisherWow, it sure is hot out there, isn't it? While the heat index is on the rise and the sun seems as enthusiastic as ever to flex its muscles, it's important that we remember to be drinking plenty of water throughout the day and help fight off dehydration. Water, water, water – plain old water.
This month we are showcasing an amazing group of truck drivers who are proud members of the driver advisory board of the Healthy Trucking Association of America. It's a real treat to have the opportunity to work with this group; not only is it helpful on my end to learn more about the daily health and wellness challenges that go along with a career in the trucking industry, but they are great role models for all of us in the industry to prove day in and day out that while maintaining excellent health and wellness on the road requires time and dedication, it's very doable and does not take a great deal of changes in your lifestyle.
They are also a partner in the organization of our Health Awareness Walks; we recently held our second of three walks planned for this year at the Great West Truck Show in Las Vegas. To help fight off the powerful desert sun, we held the Vegas walk inside the convention center. We'll hold our third walk at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas in August, and yes, it will be indoors as well.
Now, go get yourself a cool glass of water!
